Job Description


  • The Technical Planning Analyst is responsible for coordinating the implementation of new technologies and processes across the enterprise at Ambulatory EHR practices. The Technical Planning Analyst will be responsible for working directly with the EHR Implementation Specialist , Technical Staff including Systems Engineers, Network Engineers and Support Technicians as well as internal customers and external vendors and partners to understand system technology requirements and facilitate its implementation. This individual will help create and support an effective EHR implementation for the organization and build relationships with IS, business and clinical staff to successfully deliver these services.


  • The Technical Planning Analyst is responsible for planning, understanding, communicating and executing the hardware and infrastructure needed to support the use of the EHR in the practice
  • Prepares the office for the EHR by conducting the Technical Assessment including:
  • Hardware and Infrastructure Analysis and Design Plan
  • Device Selection, Placement and Needs
  • Hardware and Software procurement, imaging/building, deployment and Go-LIVE support
  • Participates in inventory management of existing stock room
  • Provides occassional training on new equipment in the practice setting for staff unfamiliar with Steward standard equipment
  • Works with the Implementation Specialist to contribute to the practice relationships for these initiatives, and ensuring that the technology services are delivered with quality and timeliness
  • Educating the organization on IS, by understanding existing and new applications and technologies as well as how other organizations use technology
  • Identifying and contributing to system process improvement through implementation of new applications, technologies and best practices
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned


  • Excellent organizational and and attention to detail skills
  • Ability to manage multiple, complex practice implementations from Assessment through Go-LIVE
  • Broad-based I/T knowledge, especially in the area of networked computing
  • Negotiating, facilitating and relationship building among IS peers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume; ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
  • Must be a self-motivated individual with proven organizational skills and a self-starter who needs little-to-no supervision while travelling daily within the Steward Health Care Network 90% of the time
  • Education: Four-year college degree (Bachelor’s degree) or demonstrated work experience in the field of networked computing
  • Experience: Three years of professional experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified; strong preference for candidates with experience as a Local PC Support Technician in an enterprise hospital setting
  • Certification/Licensure: Industry standard certification include CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, MCP, MCTS, MCITP, MCSA, MCSE, CCNA is desirable, but not required
  • Software/Hardware: Overall knowledge of networked Windows computers and applications is desirable, as is working with systems in a LAN/WLAN is desirable
  • Other: Mechanical aptitude is a strong requirement as it relates to computer components, as well as mobile and mounted options for computer devices
