The Solutions Architect will participate in the development of IT infrastructure architecture, systems management and operations standards across the enterprise. This person will be responsible for developing implementation requirements, tracking issues and activities, and managing the quality of implementations and integration of IT infrastructure solutions as projects progress. This person will act as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent. The Solutions Architect will interface with strategic IT vendor partners to evaluate, design and implement IT solutions.

The Solutions Architect will be a key member of the IS Architecture Department in the development of solutions to support changing business requirements in the various business units as the company continues to grow both organically and through mergers and acquisitions

This position works under the direction of the Director of Solutions Architecture and requires the ability to function successfully in both team and independent work environments.

• Provide IT subject matter expertise for infrastructure technologies and recommend technology strategy by understanding key business strategic objectives
• Responsible for ensuring that technical solutions comply with strategic architecture, direction and best practices
• Assist with developing project charters, cost and effort estimates, architectural diagrams and supporting details for technical solutions
• Research and maintain knowledge in emerging infrastructure-centric technologies; evaluate their applicability to business goals and operational requirements
• Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
• Execute information gathering sessions to validate business cases, gather and document business and functional objectives
• Ensure solutions are in line with corporate Strategic Technology Roadmap
• Coordinate project activities during the Design phase of IT projects
• Analyze client requirements, articulate solution risks and barriers, recommend delivery approaches, prepare time and cost estimates, and plan full project life cycle
• Work with other IT Solution Architects in the team and/or in BU teams to define, document and analyze non-functional technical, security, and operational requirements
• Create lab evaluations and engage subject matter experts to validate the usability of the technology, tests new technologies, compares candidate solutions, makes recommendations, and publishes results
• Identify key risks on the technical architecture options, and work with involved teams for mitigation strategy and plans
• Construct support mechanisms to ensure optimal use of technology by the business areas and projects including frameworks, standards and best practices
• Enhance overall team accomplishments and competence by planning delivery of solutions; answer technical and procedural questions for less-experienced team members; teach improved processes; mentor team members
• Provide design recommendations based on long-term IT organization strategy
• Work with the PMO to develop plans and scope for proposed projects
• Provide direction and assistance in specific application and infrastructure development projects
• Engage with multiple technology groups to ensure that the application, integration, infrastructure, and security architectures are designed to meet evolving business requirements, standards for reliability, scalability and availability and align with the overall organization Technology Roadmap
• Collaborate with Engineering and Support teams, and vendors for specific domain expertise
• Develop service descriptions, security models, solution roadmaps and cost models of the solution
• Ensure that solutions are robust and scalable
• Monitor implementation of solution build-out, integration with existing infrastructure, system configuration, and system/data migrations
• Ensure solution documentation is developed and published
Test, Training, and Production Turnover
• Support system functionality and performance testing initiatives by assisting with the creation of test plans, coordination of testing activities, and tracking of issues and results
• Prepare clients to use IT infrastructure by developing and coordinating training programs
• Manage customer relationship by communicating architecture standards and frameworks; answering questions; resolving concerns and issues
• Provide expertise in transitioning new solutions into production status

Ability to analyze solution requirements and define technical/infrastructure footprint to address complex business and technology needs

Expert verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interface with peers, partners, and senior IT and Business management to present technical footprint options and budget needs, and guide them through recommended options based on industry best practices, ROI and TCO aspects

Consulting skills such as interviewing stakeholders, conducting architecture reviews, communication of complex technical and business concepts, negotiating change and consensus building

Ability to lead cross-functional discussions and project reviews

Good understanding of health care industry solutions and market trends

Ability to adapt and change priorities as the business needs change
Familiarity with project management methodology
