As a part of the Financial Planning & Analysis team, the Senior Financial Business Systems Analyst is responsible for leading the support in creating and maintaining business intelligence reports that enables the FP&A team and Senior Leadership to analyze practice and provider financial statements to support SMG's strategic initiatives and overall performance. The Senior Business Systems Analyst will also play a critical role in driving and implementing SMG’s new budget process. The optimal candidate for this role is a deadline-oriented person who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Financial Business Analyst is a key member of SMG's corporate team and is a significant contributor to achieving all of its financial performance goals.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial reports and analysis, meeting organizational and departmental deadlines.
  • Update documentation, provide training, and troubleshooting support for all Axiom financial reporting users at SMG.
  • Work independently and provide management with recommendations for solutions to challenges; then leading the efforts to implement on solutions.
  • Proactively develop enhancements and updates to improve the efficiency and user experience for the current systems along with improving and maintaining system reports for the FP&A team.
  • Use tact and professionalism in communicating effectively and respectfully with the leadership team, physicians, co-workers and others.
  • Partner with FP&A analysts, practice directors, and management team to understand, build, implement, and support the teams’ needs related to the annual budget process
  • Drive medium to large scale projects for the creation and maintenance of business intelligence reports and implement new budget enhancements and processes.
  • Effectively manage priorities and projects to meet aggressive timelines, as well as communicate proactively with stakeholders and end users any impacts they will experience.
  • Utilize information to help develop financial models for productivity, compensation, and expense management control.
  • Maintain confidentiality of restricted records and communications.


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, information systems, or business management.
  • 4 or more years work experience, healthcare experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in working with business intelligence reporting tools, requirements gathering, and implementations.
  • Experience in working with and analyzing budget variances.
  • Advanced user experience with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. Other Microsoft application experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Syntellis Axiom, Tableau (or other BI tools like Power BI or Qliksense), Meditech, or Lawson is a plus
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting and communication skills are required.
  • Strong understanding of financial concepts, with modeling experience a plus.
