The Software Development Manager at Steward Health Care is the spearhead for advanced web-based application development. A key member in defining the vision of a revolutionary suite of health care applications, the Software Development Manager utilizes creativity, exceptional technical experience and steadfast leadership to make the vision a reality. As a hands-on developer and the guiding force behind a team of experienced, driven programmers, the Software Development Manager is accountable for precise planning and the reliable deployment of software releases while fostering a culture of trust, open communication and harmony.

Key Responsibilities

• Work together with the Product Owner and key stakeholders to fully understand functional requirements for enhancements and new products
• Work with Product Managers, Data Architects, Computer Scientists, Project Managers and Business Analysts to plan detailed project scoping, sprints and releases
• Oversee and contribute to design and build of front-end and back-end layers for multiple web-based applications
• Help to coordinate unit and integrated testing, automating where possible
• Ensure that developers have accurate product and technical specifications, direction, and resources to deliver products effectively based on established schedules
• Help to establish and optimize development environment to maximize simplicity and ease in all areas of development lifecycle
• Advocate and educate Agile Software Development principles and practices
• Conduct daily scrum meetings
• Monitor individual employees' performance, provide consistent feedback (including formal yearly review) and guidance to ensure developmental progress and job satisfaction

Qualifications

Education
• BA/BS/MS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related 4+-year technical degree
Experience
• 6+ years of experience in software development
• 4+ years of management experience
Skills
• Solid background in computer science and mathematics
• Experience with object oriented development, preferably with C#
• Experience with front-end web development including HTML5, CSS and Javascript
• Experience with and ability to demonstrate strengths and weaknesses of server-side languages, frameworks and environments such as Python, PHP, Java, Node.js, and ASP.NET MVC
• Experience with Javascript frameworks and libraries like AngularJS, jQuery, Knockout and Bootstrap
• Knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA) and related architectural styles using REST, SOAP, RPC, XML, etc.
• Knowledge of ORM tools like NHibernate
• Experience with modern distributed version control systems like Git or Mercurial
• Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) like Microsoft SQL Server
• Knowledge of noSQL solutions such as MongoDB
• Experience with build, test and continuous integration (CI) software such as Bamboo, Jenkins, TeamCity, Team Foundation Server, etc.
• Experience with an integrated development environment (IDE), preferably Visual Studio
• Experience working in an Agile-based development environment and knowledge of different methods such as Scrum, Feature-driven development (FDD) and Kanban

• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong desire to seek out and learn new technologies and development practices
• Ability and willingness to adapt quickly to changing priorities and requests
