Position Summary
Security Engineering Manager is responsible for assessing and managing the information security environment as well as implement new technologies that augment security posture of Steward Health Care. Provides leadership and support for Security Operations. Serves as the primary communication liaison between the Security Engineering team and other department managers within the organization. Requires diverse set of skills including problem solving, solid verbal and written communication, excellent relationship building experience, and strong leadership skills.

Key Responsibilities
• Support organizational security strategies aligned to enable Steward Health Care’s mission and business objectives
• Develop operational service metrics with actionable plans to improve operational efficiency, enhance service quality, and optimize delivery times
• Establish and create standard operating procedures related to tasks and positions within the team
• Identify key operational areas for continuous improvement
• Provide technical mentoring to team members
• Serve as a leader of project teams in a cross-functional environment
• Provide development guidance and assist in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of organization information security policies and procedures in coordination with organization management and administration
• Translate technical and security requirements into business proposals for new solutions, proof-of-concept (POC) initiatives, and discussions with process owners and stakeholders
• Review requests for new applications and software to ensure that they are compliant to security policies and requirements
• Analyze data and prepare reports that document vulnerabilities and recommend actions to prevent, repair or mitigate identified vulnerabilities.
• Provide technical expertise on post-event security logs analysis.
• Review security events that are detrimental to the overall security posture
• Coordinate and liaise with other entities, internal or external, with information regarding intrusion events, security incidents, and other threat indicators
• Ensure security measures comply with applicable policies, provide configuration management, and accurately assess the impact of modifications
• Perform initial and periodic security assessments for incidents and conduct related ongoing investigative activities in coordination with the other corporate functions
• Occasional after hours and weekend work may be required in order to perform tasks that cannot be done during business hours
• Participate in the call rotations, and carry a pager and/or cell phone 24x7.
• Perform other duties as required

Required Knowledge & Skills
• Ability to build strategic vision and drive organizational change
• Strong organization and planning skill with the ability to work in and define ambiguity/gray areas
• Solid background in Security Engineering & Operations
• Solid background in incident handling procedures and Cyber Kill Chain methodology
• Demonstrate both technical acumen and critical thinking abilities
• Experience with trouble ticketing and change management systems
• Ability to work under stressful and tight deadlines as well as the ability to manage in a fast-paced environment
• Must be able to speak clearly, provide guidance to employees, and security staff during emergencies
• Strong decision-making ability during both crisis and non-crisis situations
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of leadership
• Knowledge of web applications and API is highly desired
• Experience with cloud environments is desired

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field, or equivalent experience
• 8+ years of relevant experience with large mission-critical internetworks is required
• Security industry certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, etc. are desirable
