HIM Coding Auditor - West Division
Associate's degree required; Bachelors preferred.
The HIM Corporate Coding Auditor is an advanced technical position responsible for reviewing and auditing multidisciplinary inpatient and/or outpatient medical records. The position is responsible for auditing records to ensure accurate classification of patient diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10 codes, CPT codes, APCs, and DRGs.
The HIM Corporate Coding Auditor will report to the HIM Executive Director. The position will be required to work onsite at the Richardson, Texas, Steward Health Care office.
The position will work closely with the division external coding audit company, serve as a final determination resource between external audit company and hospital coding professionals, complete routine internal coding audits consisting of 20-30 records per selected location per month, communicate coding education to hospital professionals, monitor and reporting hospital internal coding audit results, and assist with DRG denial appeals.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Display a high level of computer literacy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to meet assigned deadlines and organization skills
Candidate must display a superior knowledge of Coding Guidelines (Coding Clinic, UHDDS Official Coding Guidelines, CCI Edits)
* Associate's or Bachelor's Degree
* 3+ years' experience as acute inpatient auditor required.
* RHIT, RHIA Preferred.
* Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) required.
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel and PowerPoint; 3M encompass 360 and Cerner Power Chart Electronic Medical Record
